What We Do
When you travel with Nature Horizons, we want you to have the experience you’ve been imagining. And, when you’re looking for inspiration and help on planning your next trip, we want to give you the ideas you’re looking for.
To help us do this, we need to ask you for a little personal information. But, we know how important it is to keep your personal information safe, and we’ll always be open with you about how we collect and keep it.
Data Collection
We’ll ask you for information such as your name and contact information, your email address, and, if you travel with us, your passport details. We collect your personal data for three main reasons:
- When you visit our website or use our mobile and/or tablet apps, to give you the best possible experience, based on what you want to find out and which device you’re using.
- So we can contact you successfully, if you get in touch or ask us for information.
- And, when we’re planning your trip, to ensure that we make the right arrangements for you.
If you’re travelling with us, we’ll ask you to tell us a little more about yourself, such as any health conditions. We only do this so we can plan your trip around any special requirements you might have.
How we share your personal information
We’ll only either ask you for personal information directly or, with your permission, gather it by tracking how you use our website or our mobile and/or tablet apps. We won’t share your personal information with third parties for any marketing activities.
When we do share your personal information, it’s always so we can provide you with a better service when you’re travelling with us.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
The companies that help us run this site
We do not run our website or our email on our own machines. The companies below process personal information on our behalf and only on our instructions. They are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.
- Vercel hosts and serves this website. Their servers record the usual request information, including your IP address.
- Sanity stores the text and images you see on these pages. Images are delivered from their content network, so your browser contacts them directly whenever a page loads.
- Cloudflare checks that our forms are being filled in by a person and not by an automated script. When you submit a form, your IP address and a verification token are sent to them for that check.
- OpenAI screens each enquiry for us. See the next section, because this one deserves to be spelled out.
- Resend delivers the resulting emails, both the copy that reaches our team and the acknowledgement that reaches you.
- Google provides our audience measurement, the maps on our contact page and the videos embedded across the site. None of it loads until you allow it in our cookie banner. Our cookie policy covers this in detail.
Automated screening of enquiries
Our enquiry forms receive a steady volume of automated spam. To keep it out of our inbox, every submission is sent to OpenAI’s API, which scores it and assigns it a priority. What we send is what you typed: your name, email address, telephone number and the content of your enquiry, including any trip details you gave us.
We want to be straightforward about the consequence, because it affects you. If the screening classifies a submission as spam, that submission is discarded and never reaches our team. No human reads it first.
No system is perfect, and a genuine enquiry can be misread. If you have written to us through this website and had no reply within a few working days, please email or telephone us using the details below and we will pick it up. You can also ask us to review any decision made this way.
Where your information goes
Nature Horizons is based in the United States, and so are the companies listed above. If you write to us from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or anywhere else, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law differs from that of your own country.
If you would rather not send your details through this website, you are welcome to telephone us instead. The number is at the bottom of this page.
Safeguarding your personal information
We keep your personal information securely, and we only keep it for limited and appropriate amounts of time. If you’d like to stop receiving our email marketing, you can click ‘unsubscribe’ at any time.
Your rights to your personal information
You can contact us at any time if you have questions, concerns, comments, requests or complaints regarding our privacy policy or your personal information.
